Project Overview
The Smart Sorting Trash Can is a team-based engineering project designed to improve waste disposal by automatically identifying and sorting items into the correct category. By combining machine learning, hardware integration, and system design, the project aims to reduce recycling contamination and create a smarter, more efficient disposal process.
Our team worked across multiple disciplines to develop the full system. The hardware side focuses on the physical structure, CAD design, and electrical setup. The software side covers image classification, model training, and control logic. The chemical section explores odor control and material considerations that improve the practicality of the final design.
